Trust you had a restful weekend and I hope the charity ride went well! Quick one – was up in the night and happened across coverage of the Baa Baas match from Ally Pally. I was surprised to see McBride still in their starting lineup – I thought they'd have realised by now what a mess they bought, but he seems to have found his feet. I trust this won't be an issue for us going forwards? I would like to think he won't resurface.

The charity ride went very well, thank you. Twenty thousand raised, and that's before the silent auction.

I understand your concerns, but I wouldn't call a decent showing against a group of middle aged drunks and tier two club wannabes like the Barbarians remotely impressive.

Agreed on the middle aged drunks! But van Niekerk was a monster in his time and McBride looks about ten kilos up on when he left us. Just wanting some reassurance because I was under the impression he was gone for good.
